Review of UK Vs The World Season 1 Episode 6 (Finale)
Hello gorgeous people, hope you're having a wonderful day, today i will be doing the review of UK Vs The World episode 6, the big finale. This week, the queens had to walk the runway in their "Grand Finale Eleganza Extravaganza" looks and then they had to get prepared for a lipsync smackdown, where the Top 4 would be divided in two pairs, then the 2 queens of each pair would lipsync against each other and the winner of each lipsync would face-off in a final lipsync that would determine who the winner of the season is. I'll start by talking about the runway looks of each queen and also their journey throughout this season. Before that, i just want to give the usual warning of SPOILERS AHEAD. You have been warned.
First up, we have Blu Hydrangea. On the runway, she stayed true to her name and wore something blue, showing that she is proud of where she cames from and is also proud of her work on this season. This dress is absolutely stunning, probably my favourite look of her. I love the sleeves, the gloves, the bird that she has on her belly and even the ribbons on her shoes i think they are adorable. I have to admit, when i saw Blu in this outfit, i gasped because it's so beautiful and made me even more proud of her. As you can recall, i said multiples times on my reviews that, almost every week, Blu was overlooked by the judges meaning she would do an amazing job on the challenges and on the runways but it seemed like they were not seeing it, which made upset but still she got a moment of shine on the Snatch Game where Blu clearly had the best performance and also had one of the best looks that week. She was also one time on the bottom which i also don't get why since, in my opinion, she had the best look that week and also had a very strong performance. In the end, everything worked out for her, since she got the biggest moment of shine on this episode and made up for everytime she was overlooked. If there was someone that went into this finale with a big desire to win this competiton, that person was Blu and you could see how determined she was to win, she was ready to do everything that she needed to do to win, in the fairest way. I'm so happy for her and i can say that this season got the best ending possible after some shocking decisions and eliminations that happened throughout on this season. Also let's not forget that Blu made one of biggest bold moves ever in the history of Drag Race which was sending one of the biggest threats home so she could have a chance to have that crown and title, that decision was the best she could have made, considering what happened in the end for her.
Next up, we have Jujubee. On the runway, she served this gorgeous red dress and i'm glad that Juju got to show this look on the runway because it is so beautiful, the fit is stunning, the gloves are amazing and, as always, her makeup and hair looked absolutely perfect. You can see that Jujubee, truly, saved the best for last and, in my opinion, this is her best look of this season and also one of the best looks that she has worn throughout her journey on Drag Race. As you may saw, on my reviews, Juju didn't have the best showing on this season which made me upset several times especially because I know how talented she is and how incredible she can be so seeing her just flopping on so many challenges disappointed me but i am so happy that she woke up and slayed the last challenge and runway before the finale. If she had not done that, she would probably be sent home or she will be in this finale with 4 times on the bottom and without a win which honestly is a recipe for not having a chance of winning. Going into this finale, many fans (myself included) started to think that she would probably win this whole season only because sometimes Rupaul likes to troll everyone and give a win to somebody that didn't so good on a season and also since in the finale they did a lipsync smackdown for the crown and Juju is known for being of the best lip sync assassins of the show, I wouldn't be surprised to see her win but i have to admit i would be disappointed only because there were another queens that did better than her all season long. That didn't happen but for a moment i thought it would and, sadly, fourth time was not a charm for Juju. Considering everything, i still think she will be back for another season though, which may sound crazy but it's not impossible and i hope if she does come back, she finally gets her head in the right space and actually wins the whole competition having the best track record. Let's keep hope alive.
And lastly, we have Baga Chipz. On the runway, she served this very different and interesting look, the headpiece is so beautiful, so well detailed and looks very expensive. The dress itself is good but i think it's not on the level of a finale especially when you compare it to the other queens outfits but i am glad that she tried something different. Throughout this season, in my reviews, i was always a little bit harsh with Baga but it's only because of how she was being favoured by the judges for no reason, which is unfair especially if that happens almost every episode of the season. I know that Baga is very talented, comedy is what she does best, no doubt about that but her being so cocky and thinking that she is the most famous people on Britain (which is not true, at all) upsets me because you can confident and live your fantasy but try to get in touch with reality. The finale being a lip sync smackdown, i was scared for her since she is probably the weakest, of the Top 4, when it comes to lip syncing but i thought that maybe she could surprise me and the fandom and deliver amazing performances but that sadly, didn't happen especially when you have to go against Mo who is a phenomenal performer but i do have to say that she didn't give up and put up a very good fight, showing that she is a not a quitter and was ready to do everything in her power to get through the lip syncs in order to get the crown. If Baga ever comes back for another season of Drag Race, the only thing that she has to invest more is on the runway looks, once she has that, she would be unbeatable and then maybe she will truly become the most famous person on Britain. I wish the best of luck to her.
I'm so happy that one of my favourites queens since the beginning of this season won it all, even though, she was overlooked by the judges almost all season long. So happy for Blu and can't wait to see what she does with this title.
Next up, we have Mo Heart. On the runway, she decided to give us glamour in this beautiful orange dress, this color really pops on her skin and makes her look so expensive and high fashion. When i saw her with this outfit, i was not really on board with it but when she started to walk and i saw all the movement, i started to like it more and more. She looked so happy and confident while walking the runway which also helped her selling the outfit and also was a good way to show everyone that she was ready to have that crown, no matter what. Mo started this season, in my opinion, in the middle of the pack, delivering good performances but not enough to be great, there would always be something that was holding her back to have a Top 2 placement until the Top 5 episode where she absolutely slayed the challenge and then also had a show stopping runway look. I think, if she didn't came into this competition so cocky, she probably would have more stellar perfromances on the challenges and maybe could be in this finale with a better track record but still, she got to the end and had a last chance to prove that she was deserving of that crown. On this season, she also decided to change her name from Monique to Mo mostly because she wanted a more neutral name since gender for her is not that important (which i also agree, gender doesn't define who you are) so she also went through a transformation which maybe held her back in some way or another but nonetheless she still proved that she deserved to be on this competition and she was also another queen that i was rooting for (besides Blu). She said, before the season aired, that this will probably be the last time that we will see her competing since she feels that after this she doesn't have anything else to show in terms of competition but she will, of course, be doing drag. I can't see what she has planned for her future.
Now, to decide the pairs that would lipsync agains each other, they had to spin the wheel. After the spin, the wheel landed on Mo Heart which the opportunity to choose her opponent in the lip sync and she made that choice based on strategy meaning she chose someone that she thought was weaker in a lip sync, she chose Baga Chipz which means Blu and Juju will have to lipsync against each other. Baga then had the chance to choose which song she and Mo would lipsync to and she ended up choosing "Domino" by Jessie J. The lipsync was good, Baga was funny while Mo focused on emoting every single word but i have to admit she played a little too safe, and it was a close call but Mo ends up winning the lip sync which means Baga unfortunately is not in the Top 2 and is not going to win.
After that, it's time for Blu and Juju to lipsync to "The Reflex" by Duran Duran and i've got to say that Blu totally nailed that lipsync, Juju did do her job but it lacked energy while Blu's energy was up the entire time and you could the eager she had to win the lip sync. In the end, Blu wins the lip sync moving to the Top 2 to the final performance while Juju unfortunately is eliminated, just like Baga.
To the final lipsync, we have Mo Vs Blu and they have to perform "Supernova" by Kylie Minogue. In this lipsync, Mo was more energetic, her desire to win was very noticeable and she was trying to give everything while Blu was very energetic, charismatic and even added a little bit of comedy to the performance which, for me, was more smarter because it grabs your attention. It was a very close match but Rupaul had to make a decision and she decidied that the first ever queen of the World is: Blu Hydrangea.
Well gorgeous people, i hope you like this review, from now on there will be no more reviews for this season since it was finale but i will keep posting stuff about Drag Race. If you think another queen should have won or if you don't agree with my opinion, feel free to say so in the comments, i will read and answer them. Hope you have a wonderful day, talk to you soon. Bye 💖💖
