Review of UK Vs The World Season 1 Episode 1

Hello gorgeous people, I'm back and now I'm going to review the first episode of UK Vs The World. For those who don't know this is sort of spin-off of the reality show Rupaul's Drag Race. This reality show has been on since 2009 and throughout the years, the show has gotten so big that international seasons started to appear and some countries have their own version of Rupaul's Drag Race. Besides the US, there is another versions of Rupaul's Drag Race in Holland , Canada , UK , Thailand, Spain and Down Under. So Rupaul decided, for this spin off, to join 9 queens from certain franchises in a competition to determine who will the queen of the world and who will get the privilege to record a single with Rupaul.

Now I'm going through every queen who is competing and i'm going to talk about their entrance looks, their talent show (the challenge of that week), their runway looks and then i'm going to discuss the lipsync (The Top 2 of every week will have to lipsync so they could get a Rupeter Badge and the power to send one of the bottom queens home) and reveal who goes home, so SPOILERS AHEAD. You have been warned.

First up on the main stage, we have Baga Chipz, she competed on the first season of Rupaul's Drag Race UK and came in Third Place. Baga is known for being very funny, very charismatic and also known to not have the best runway looks. She entered the stage wearing a knock-off version of Princess Diana dress, which, for me, is ok but nothing really special but i do think that she got better with makeup and hair. On the talent show she, as some other girls, sang or better lipsynced an original song based on her catchphrase "Much Betta" and i have to admit it started out funny but it got old very quickly hearing her saying "Much Betta" over and over again. For me, again, it was an okay perfomance but the judges for some reason seemed to love it (Don't Know Why). Lastly on the runway, the category was "I'm a Winner Baby" and she decided to dress like an Oscar, which on paper sounds amazing and the execution was not good, even the fabric of the dress doesn't really go with the yellow makeup and she was not able to sell the garment on the runway. In my opinion, it was one of the weakest looks on the runway in this episode and it proved that Baga still needs to improve on the look department, atleast from what we saw in this episode.

Next up, we have Blu Hydrangea, like Baga, she competed on the first UK season of Rupaul's Drag Race where she placed fifth. Blu is known to be a fashion queen with very beautiful and fashion looks and also is known to be not only shady and also very funny without even realizing it. She was my favorite queen of that season so I was very excited to see her back and she did not dissapoint me, at all. She entered the main stage painted in all blue with a very fun look, showcasing her makeup skills and also her fashion knowledge. Everything about the look works, even the wig is styled in a very beautiful and even funny way. On the talent how, she did a comedy song, showing how funny and "dirty" she is. She performed this song in a very cute and well executed cheerleading look with other 2 blown up dolls attached to her, which she interacted with them during her performance. On the runway, she, in my opinion and on the judges opinion, she didn't meet the category. The outfit is very cool and badass but it doesn't read winner from me, which is a shame because if her look was better she could have been in the Top 2 because her performance on the talent show was very strong. But still, she is showing that she is stronger now when it comes to drag.

Next up, we have Cherly Hole and just like Baga and Blu she competed on the first season of Rupaul's Drag Race UK where she placed fourth. She is most known for being a dancing queen that can lipsync very well and do some stunts mostly the death drop. When i knew she was going to be on this season I was not that excited because i feel like she was not going to able to stand out and judging by this episode, i was right. She entered the main stage on a simple dance costume, she looked quite good (her makeup was pretty) in it but still nothing groundbreaking or even interesting. On the talent show, she performed an original song in a very excting and beautiful dance costume, i really liked that costume, the song was good but also not that original. Her dance moves were good, though. On the runway, unfortunately she wore a simple white dress with 2 stars glued on to it, then again she didn't stand out from the rest of the cast and the look itself barely met the category of "I'm a Winner Baby".

Next up, we have Janey Jacké (JJ for short) that competed on the first season of Drag Race Holland where she placed second. On her season, JJ proved to be a fashion queen, she had amazing looks but she was also edited to look like the shady/mean queen of that season coming for queens makeup and looks. Based on the edit she got, I didn't like her on the season, so hearing she was coming back, i rolled my eyes because I felt that maybe some other dutch queens deserved to be on this competition instead of her but i gave the benefit of the doubt, and in a way I'm glad i gave her that benefit. She entered the main stage in an all blue outfit, which was simple, but her body looked so good, her makeup was amazing and she is more funny now, overall it was a very strong entrance. On the talent show, she did not do good. She basically danced to a song and started to reveal some outfits she had under that green dress, the dresses were very basic and simple, and sometimes she would lipsync to the song and sometimes she wouldn't, which for me was confusing. But on the runway she showed why she is known for being a fashion queen because in my opinion she looked so beautiful and so regal, red looks so good on her, she really proved why she was in this competition. Let's see if she can showcase her talent in other areas.

Next up, we have the drag clown herself Jimbo. She competed on the first season of Canada's Drag Race where she placed fourth. Jimbo was my favorite to win on that season and it pissed me off that her talent was not recognised by the judges on that season so for her to come back made me so happy because she will finally get the praise that she deserves and then again I was right. Jimbo entered the main stage with a very interesting jumpsuit where the tits are the main feature (as always) and we can see rightaway that her makeup improved a lot and that red wig looks so good on her. It's very hard to explain to Jimbo's Talent Show, she basically dressed up as a sperm and then started doing some scary but also funny faces and by the end, she gave birth to baloney and then threw to it to Rupaul. Basically her perfomance was a laugh riot from start to finish, which was expected coming from Jimbo. On the runway she took such a different approach, showcasing a look that is so high fashion, considering that Jimbo's relationship with fashion was sometimes rocky on her season. This outfit is inspired by a chess piece (probably the queen) and sold this dress so well in the runway and basically solidified her place in one of the highest places on this episode, proving to everyone that she is unfairly judged on Canada's Drag Race and if she was judged fairly she could have been the winner of that season, without a doubt.

Next up, we have the sour and juicy queen of the season, Lemon. She also competed on the first season of Canada's Drag Race where she placed fifth. She, just like Jimbo, was a fan favorite and people were so sad to see her go but were then again happy to see her coming back for a second chance. She entered the main stage with a big yellow (what a shocker) coat that looked so good. I know that her name is Lemon but even if it wasn't I think she would still be wearing yellow because it looks so good on her and I know some people are not fans of yellow hair but Lemon knows how to wear it. On the talent show she lipsynced to her song "Sweet and Sour", which by the way is a bop and i listen to it almost daily a couple of times. The performance was full of stunts such as splits, dips and it ends with her jumping from the top of a big box landing on a split, something that was already done in previous seasons of the show, which made the judges calling that move not original. On the runway she then again served a gorgeous yellow look, in which she looked stunning, her mug was beautiful and the hair was styled in a very good way, I just wished the crown was a little bigger.

Next up, we have the first co-host to be a contestant on Rupaul's Drag Race, Pangina Heals. She was a co-host on the two seasons of Drag Race, where she served amazing looks and was a fantastic judge that loved all the contestants. When it was announced she was on this cast, i was so excited for her because i know what she can do, i know how amazing of a dancer she is, how funny she is, how fashionable she is and the most importantly how hot she is as a guy 😂. She entered the main stage paying homage to the miss Universe of 1998 and i have to say this look is so simple yet so beautiful, so well done, the execution of it is perfect and she looks so good. On the talent show she did a perfomance to her song, it was funny, silly and also professional especially she showcasing her talent in the dance style called whacking. With this perfomance she showed to everyone that she one of the biggest threats in the competition. For the runway, she again slayed it wearing a white dress with many details and also wore an headpiece symbolizing the thai culture. Overall an amazing look, with so much culture behind it, which i love and a good way to make sure that she was overall one of the best performers of the night. You can say that she started with a bang.

Next up, we have Mo Heart (also known as Monique Heart) who competed on Season 10 where she placed eight and All Stars 4 where she placed fourth/third. She is back for the third time so the expections for Mo are very high and i was intrigued to see what she was gonna bring and i have to be honest, i was a little bit disappointed. Starting off with the entrance look, that lavander color looks so good on her but the wig that she wore didn't make any sense with the look and also i don't think those glasses were needed, but the overall look i was satisfied with. On the talent show, she performed an original song (again) and even though the look she was wearing was good, the performance itself was not good, i don't know what happened to her voice (she was singing live), looked like she was singing off-key the whole time and i'm sorry but the performance felt messy, in my opinion. But when it comes to the runway, she redeemed herself big time, this green opulent look was a stand out and it was my favorite of the night and evertything about this look was amazing and so well executed, just a shame that her performance on the talent show was not on the same level. I'm intrigued to see what she is going to bring next.

Lastly, we have Jujubee (also known as Juju) who competed on Season 2, All Stars 1 and All Stars 5 of Rupaul's Drag Race where everytime she placed third. When Juju was revealed as a cast member of UK Vs The World, many memes started to appear because of how many time Jujus has competed on Drag Race but at the end of day, even though i love her, I was also wondering what does she have to offer, what else she can show that she hasn't shown on her previous seasons, and what she showed on this episode was disappointing. She walks into the main stage wearing a very basic black dress that it looks like she bought it from the mall. Even though she looks good in black, this dress doesn't flatter her at all. On the talent show she did something similar to what she did on the talent show of All Stars 5, she sang an original song. It was a good song and a good perfomance but we have seen that already, so nothing new. On the runway, Juju served a very basic look, the again nothing new, nothing groundbreaking, nothing exciting, it looks like she just doesn't want to be in this competition, it looks like she came into this competition already tired. Let's see if she wakes up and uses this fourth chance to her advantage.

Placements in this episode:
TOP 2 - Jimbo and Pangina
HIGH - Baga Chipz and Blu Hydrangea
SAFE - Cheryl Hole, Mo Heart and Jujubee
BOTTOM 2 - Janey Jacké and Lemon

Because they were the Top 2, Jimbo and Pangina had to choose the lipstick of the bottom queen they wanted to send home before they had to lipsync. They lipsynced to "Say You'll Be There" by The Spice Girls since Mel C was the guest Judge. The Winner of the Lipsync was Pangina and she decided to send home Lemon since, in her opinion, she did the worst in the challenge. This elimination was received with some shock by the some of other castmates and also by the majority of the fandom that didn't understand why Lemon was in the bottom let alone why she was eliminated over Janey, setting the fact that every elimination is going to hurt one way or another.
